Austen Ivereigh is a London-based author, journalist, and commentator whose work focuses on Roman Catholic issues. He is a fellow in contemporary Church history at Campion Hall, Oxford.

Ivereigh is former deputy editor of The Tablet, a Catholic international weekly review, and previously served as the public affairs director for former Archbishop of Westminster Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor. He is the author of the 2014 biography The Great Reformer: Francis and the Making of a Radical Pope (Henry Holt and Co.). His latest book, Wounded Shepherd: Pope Francis and His Struggle to Convert the Catholic Church (Henry Holt and Co.), is being released in November 2019 and examines Pope Francis’ attempt to steer the Church away from power and create a more welcoming institution.

Ivereigh is also the founder of Catholic Voices, a United Kingdom-based communications organization that trains laypeople to promote Catholic viewpoints in the media. He holds a PhD from Oxford University.
