Recognizing Excellence

The Kellogg Institute offers multiple awards and prizes to students, faculty, and public figures making an impact in their various fields.

The Notre Dame Award

Bestowed by the Kellogg Institute’s Ford Family Program in Human Development Studies and Solidarity, the award recognizes individuals or organizations that stand in solidarity with those in deepest need.

Award for Outstanding Doctoral Student Contributions

Inaugurated in 2016–17, this annual award recognizes a doctoral student affiliate for outstanding contributions to the intellectual life of the Kellogg Institute.

Undergraduate Mentoring Award

In recognition of the many hours our faculty fellows offer to undergraduate students who participate in our programs, the Kellogg Institute has established the Undergraduate Mentoring Award to be presented each May.

John J. Kennedy Prize

Formerly, the John J. Kennedy Prize was awarded annually for the best senior essay on Latin America. The award carried a monetary prize and recognized the recipient’s high quality work at Notre Dame.

Considine Award

The Kellogg Institute bestows The Considine Award for Outstanding Student Contributions to the Study of or Service to the Catholic Church in Latin America, comprising a certificate and a $500 cash prize, during commencement activities in the spring.

The Notre Dame Prize

The Notre Dame Prize for Distinguished Public Service in Latin America was awarded annually from 2000 to 2012 to recognize the efforts of visionary leaders to enhance the region’s welfare.
