Austen Ivereigh
Fellow in Contemporary Church History, Campion Hall, Oxford
Author, Journalist, Commentator, Biographer of Pope Francis

Biographer Austen Ivereigh will speak on his most recent book, Wounded Shepherd: Pope Francis and His Struggle to Convert the Catholic Church (Henry Holt and Company, 2019), in which he reports on Francis’s six-year-long attempt – often amid fierce pushback – to bring about change. He will provide analysis, insider accounts, and entertaining anecdotes in his journey through the key episodes of Francis’s reform in Rome and the wider Church, while also bringing into sharp focus the frustrations and fury, and the joys and successes, of one of the most remarkable pontificates of the contemporary age.
