Maria Ventura has returned from conducting original research in Berlin, Germany regarding the social integration of Syrian women who have migrated to the city. Ventura is using the data collected to write an international development studies minor capstone project. Ventura is also writing an anthropology thesis on the humanity and lack thereof throughout the transnational migration process from Central America and Southern Mexico north to the United States based on her experiences at a migrant shelter in Puebla, Mexico. Finally, Ventura is assisting Professor Catherine Bolten with her current research regarding fertility decisions in West Africa.
