Kellogg Visiting Fellow Nazar Stetsyk is an associate professor in the Department of Theory and Philosophy of Law at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (Ukraine). His research interests relate to theoretical and comparative issues of case law practice. He teaches courses on international and European standards of human rights, the right to a fair trial, and human rights in case law practice.

Stetsyk has contributed his expertise to the Council of Europe project “Support for Judicial Institutions and Processes to Strengthen Access to Justice in Ukraine,” the Organization and Security Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Ukraine on issues of the European Court of Human Rights case law influence on Ukraine’s legal system, and the USAID project “Analysis of the New Supreme Court Case Law” on the issues of improving the newly created Supreme Court in Ukraine.

He has been a visiting researcher in Germany at the University of Wurzburg; in Italy at the University of Foggia; and in Poland at the University of Warsaw, University of Wroclaw, and Jagiellonian University. In 2021 he was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the University of Notre Dame School of Law, researching the American experience of ensuring stability and consistency of case law in the US Supreme Court.
