José Henriquez is a Salvadoran peace activist. He is a Doctoral Researcher and Lecturer on International Human Rights Law in the Irish Centre for Human Rights at the National University of Ireland in Galway, Ireland. José’s research topics include state repression, gang violence and human rights in Guatemala. Formerly, he was the former Secretary General of Pax Christi International from 2012 to 2015 and remains a Pax Christi International Advisor. As executive director of the Fundación Marista, José was part of the Latin American Marist solidarity network. He also served as chair of the Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation Commission of the Guatemalan Conference of Women and Men Religious (CONFREGUA). José has a master’s degree in International development from American University in Washington, DC; a BAs in degree in sociology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome; and Religious Studies from La Salle University in Guatemala.
