Faculty Fellow Susan Blum (anthropology) wrote an opinion piece for Inside Higher Ed titled: "Why We’re Exhausted by Zoom". In it, she discusses how Zoom, although beneficial for these socially distanced times, can be draining to use. "Teaching Zoom classes depletes our energy, argues Susan D. Blum, because videoconferencing is nearly a replication of face-to-face interaction but not quite." She describes her experience teaching via Zoom and explains how human signals and interactions fade when speaking behind a screen.
