Kellogg Faculty Fellow Victoria Tin-bor Hui has been featured in numerous interviews discussing the erosion of political freedoms in Hong Kong as the Chinese government increases control over the region.

Under Chinese national security laws, Hong Kong has become just a part of China rather than maintaining its own autonomy. Hui describes this transition in an interview with James M. Lindsay noting, “We see the gradual erosion of Hong Kong’s One Country Two System model overtime.”

Hui’s research focus on the centrality of war in the formation and transformation of “China” over the long span of history positions her with significant knowledge to speak on this movement. She has been brought in on numerous conversations about the topic including interviews with the World Over, Earwolf and The President's Inbox podcasts, The Diplomat, and Louisa Lim, an award-winning journalist from Hong Kong.

Hui is an associate professor of political science at the University of Notre Dame. Alongside her research on the formation and transformation of China over time, she examines comparative state formation and state-society relation, contentious politics and resistance movements, political culture, Asian and Confucian values, and Chinese Politics.
