The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine featured an interview with Kellogg Faculty Fellow Jason Rohr, who was named the winner of the 2024 Frontiers Planet Prize, which celebrates breakthroughs in sustainability science.

Rohr’s research focuses on human schistosomiasis, a parasitic disease common in the Global South caused by water bodies inhibited by infected snails. He was chosen for the award for his work focusing on disease, food, and water challenges in Africa as part of the future of sustainability.

“I think there’s a lot of work to do; things are looking dire but promising at the same time,” says Rohr of the current work taking place in the sustainability space.

Rohr is a Galla Professor and the chair of the biological sciences department at the University of Notre Dame.
