Faculty Fellow Dianne Pinderhughes was recently interviewed by CBS News for the article “Looking Ahead After a Trump Victory.”

This article looks at what is to come in the aftermath of Trump’s victory and what led to this outcome. Pinderhughes cites race, gender, and class as impacts on the 2024 election.

“We have a society that is quite ambivalent about women as political candidates, especially women of color,” stated Pinderhughes. As to the future possibility of a female president, Pinderhughes states that “we have a long way to go,” while expressing her difficulty processing the results given Trump’s past grievances.

Pinderhughes is Notre Dame Presidential Faculty Fellow and a Professor of Africana Studies and Political Science. Her research looks at inequality with a focus on racial, ethnic, and gender politics.
