Faculty Fellow Edwin Michael (biological sciences) was featured in a South Bend Tribune article titled, “'Tempered Optimism' in St. Joseph County as Rise in Coronavirus Cases Kept 'In Check' for Now.” The article discusses how, as people begin returning to normal activities, South Bend could see a rise in the number of COVID-related hospitalizations.

Using a model he and his research team created to predict new cases, Michael states, “The implications are clear – the epidemic is beginning to resurge in most counties, including St. Joe, as a result of the easing of the lockdown and reduction in social distancing measures followed by the public.”
