Faculty Fellow Jeff Bergstrand was interviewed by Newsweek for two articles concerning the impact of increasing gas prices in the United States. Bergstrand claims that a large factor of current inflation is due to oil prices and that increasing the gas prices could exacerbate the issue and lead America into a recession. He believes there is a, “probability of a more prolonged recession because the Federal Reserve is committed to getting the inflation rate, including energy prices, down to a 2 percent annual rate."
