Due to the catastrophic floods in Pakistan, controversy arose over who should pay for the impact of climate change across the world. Faculty Fellow Maira Hayat was interviewed regarding climate reparations and whose burden they should fall on. Hayat explained that the global North is to blame for the state of our earth today. Many of the countries affected by the outcomes of climate change have to reach out to the global North in order to rebuild their country. Hayat asks, “Why should countries that have contributed little by way of GHG emissions be asking them for aid…with onerous repayment conditions?"
