About

Raleigh Kuipers—a global affairs and Spanish double major with minors in civil and human rights and European studies—is researching with Professor Clemens Sedmak, the director of the Nanovic Institute for European Studies. Through ISP, Kuipers is currently working on a project funded by Notre Dame’s Strategic Framework Grant to create an ethical framework for Catholic universities around the world. She is currently writing her Global Affairs capstone on the ethical implications of pacifist and more pragmatist feminist foreign policies. During her junior year, Kuipers researched the characteristics of resilient institutions and communities in Ukraine during the invasion; she presented her literature review at a workshop in Kraków, Poland in December of 2023. With funding from the Obama-Chesky Voyager Scholarship for Public Service, Kuipers spent the summer of 2024 researching past, current, and proposed feminist foreign policies in Chile, Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico. During the summer of 2023, she worked as a research and communications intern at ARINS - Analyzing and Researching Ireland, North and South, through Notre Dame’s Dublin Global Gateway Irish Internship program. Kuipers also works as a marketing and communications intern for the Pulte Institute for Global Development and is a Klau Institute for Civil and Human Rights Student Leadership Team member.
