Faculty Fellow Debra Javeline was interviewed by U.S. News for the article, “The Changing Climate on Capitol Hill”. Javeline explains that many politicians are not rewarded for their forward-thinking actions to prevent disasters, but rather that politicians are praised when there is physical and financial support after a disaster happens.
Javeline states, "With each election cycle, more of this generation will influence electoral outcomes, and the good news for responsible candidates of either party is that they will be able to campaign on more honest platforms, acknowledging the urgency and the imperative of mitigation and adaptation."
