Visiting Fellow Virginia Oliveros and former Dissertation Year Fellow Ezequiel Gonzalez-Ocantos co-authored an article in the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Politics: "Clientelism in Latin American Politics." This article describes clientilism as "a type of nonprogrammatic linkage strategy that political parties deploy to win elections", as it explores its implications for democratic quality in Latin America and other developing regions.
