Faculty Fellow Rev. Emmanuel Katongole (theology & peace studies) was quoted in a National Catholic Reporter article about the hope for a future papal encyclical that reframes the Catholic stance on war.  This document, which is supported by Church leaders across the globe, would emphasize nonviolence in response to conflict.  Katongole said that Pope Francis is in a position to "set a tone for the church" that will "free our imagination from the inevitability of war and violence...It be really an encyclical about hope."
