Former Visiting Fellow Verónica Zubillaga and her research group REACIN (Red de Activismo e Investigación por la Convivencia) in Caracas have received a grant from Open Society Foundations to develop their research titled," Entradas y salidas a la violencia armada: Economías ilícitas, actores armados estatales y no estatales. Víctimas y perspectivas de reparación." Zubillaga, together with current Kellogg Visiting Fellow David Smilde and University of Florida Professor Rebecca Hanson, has just finished the manuscript titled, "The Paradox of Violence in Venezuela: Crime and Revolution,” which will be published in 2021 with the University of Pittsburgh Press. Zubillaga, concerned with the situation in her native country Venezuela, is also extensively publishing in the local press and taking part in a network of social organizations engaged in dialogue and peace talks in Venezuela.
