Former Kellogg Visiting Fellow Jessica Taft (spring 2014) has recently published The Kids Are in Charge: Activism and Power in Peru's Movement of Working Children (New York University Press, 2019), which she was working on during her fellowship at Kellogg. The book explores the challenges and possibilities of intergenerational activism and social movements and encourages readers to question the widely accepted beliefs that children should not work or participate in politics. Her research on youth activism led her to write an op-ed on the youth climate strikes (published in the San Francisco Chronicle) and she have been interviewed for multiple news stories about the current wave of youth organizing.
