Faculty Fellow Martijn Cremers (finance) was mentioned in a MarketWatch article about the role of actively managed funds in investment portfolios.  Cremers argues that active funds are useful as long as they are "truly active" with a large portion of investments that differ from their benchmarks.  He tributes their utility in the modern market to lower fees and the possibility of greater diversification.
