Faculty Fellow Matt Bloom (Business Management) was mentioned in an article on The Washington Post titled: "A Pastor Confessed to His Church He Was Tired, and He Planned a Break. Then, The Coronavirus Hit D.C." This article describes how Rev. Howard-John Wesley's announced a sabbatical in December 2019, but will start preaching again in mid-April through an online platform. He is currently fighting to protect his Church by getting members tested for coronavirus and helping them with financials. Bloom said that "a survey of 10,000 pastors found that one-third were in a state of burnout — and that was before the arrival of the coronavirus." He emphasized on how pastors may not notice the building of the burnout and stress until it hits them.
