Former Visiting Fellow Gema Kloppe-Santamaría has authored an article about Nicaragua's current political crisis for IPI Global Observatory.   Kloppe-Santamaría discusses the complicities and silences within the country, international community, and the Catholic Church that allowed President Daniel Ortega to consolidate power, and his subsequent betrayal of these alliances.  In light of the current situation, she says "Ortega’s 'pathway to peace' is filled with violence."
