Former Visiting Fellow Thea Riofrancos has authored an essay entitled “Field Notes from Extractive Frontiers” for the Chicago-based Center for Humans and Nature. In it, she examines how anti-extractive movements can transform relationships between society and nature.

The essay is part of the Center’s Question series, which asks how people can live respectfully with the land and with each other. The series is curated and edited by Indigenous activist/scholar Julian Brave NoiseCat, who helped shape the Green New Deal.
