Faculty Fellow Michael Desch (political science) took part in a Las Vegas debate cohosted by POLITICO, the Charles Koch Institute, and the Brookings Institution that featured leading experts with starkly different views about the role of the US military in the world.

"I’d ask you today, after 25 years of a bipartisan policy of deep engagement and primacy, do you feel more secure, more prosperous and more free in your domestic liberty? If not, you ought to try something different,” said  Desch.

“Restraint, which is not isolation — it is a different form of internationalism — is prudent and humble,” he argued.
