Faculty Fellow Diane Desierto (human rights law and global affairs)was quoted in a Devex article about the US Supreme Court's ruling to deny the World Bank absolute immunity from prosecution.  Despite fears that this decision will trigger many lawsuits against the organization, Desierto says, "It's a cautiously written decision that opens test or pilot litigation, not necessarily floodgates."  International actors hope that this move will encourage the World Bank to strengthen its accountability mechanisms so that the communities it works with are thoroughly protected from harm.
