Molly Griffith is a junior studying economics and political science. Her research passions surround topics related to international law and international political economy. Starting in January 2023, she worked with Professor Susanne Wengle on investigating how the Russian invasion of Ukraine has affected the Ukrainian agricultural sector and, more broadly, how war-related disruptions influence our perspectives on the fragility of the contemporary global food system. This semester, Griffith will begin to research climate-centered topics in agriculture. The new project will focus on trends associated with climate change, including the thawing of permafrost, the rise of invasive pests, and increases in forest fires, that threaten Russian forests. On campus, Griffith is also involved with the Lab for Economic Opportunities, EuroSecND, and the Notre Dame Journal of Political Science.
