Jorge Ruiz Reyes holds a master's degree in Social Data Science from the University of Oxford and an undergraduate degree in Political Science from Universidad Iberoamericana (Ibero-Mexico). His work focuses on using open-source methods and technologies to document human rights violations.
He was the lead researcher of the Human Rights Center at Ibero-Mexico (2016-2021) and Senior Data Analyst and Project Coordinator (2021-2022) at Data Cívica, a Mexican NGO that uses data and technology to support human rights advocacy. He was also a consultant at Amnesty International's Evidence Lab (2023-2024) and an Open-Source Information Analyst with the Protection of Civilians Unit at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Geneva (2024).
Jorge will work with the Violence and Transitional Justice Lab (VT-J), developing data science tools to support the documentation and analysis of information on projects related to disappearances and selective violence in Mexico.
