Humanitarian Corridor Research Project

Faculty Research Grant
Grant Year

In 2017, the Italian Bishops’ Conference in collaboration with Caritas Italy and other faith-based organizations developed the “Humanitarian Corridor Project” [HCP] to create a new channel for a clearly defined group of refugees in Ethiopia to arrive safely and legally in Italy. The overall purpose of this research project is to assess and monitor the HCP for a period of five years. The systematic monitoring and evaluation of this project is a unique opportunity to address the issue and challenge of integration; the University of Notre Dame has been invited to be the exclusive research partner of Caritas Italy to analyze the integration experience of 500 refugees into Italian society from the point of their arrival.
