About

Anna Hartmann ’24 is a sociology major who plans to pursue a supplementary major in global affairs and a minor in gender studies. Her passion for international studies with a specific concentration in human and civil rights began in high school after taking AP Spanish Language and Culture and a course on the Civil Rights Movement, and stemmed from her family's diverse cultural background. After graduation, Hartmann plans to attend law school to study human rights law and dreams of becoming an international human rights lawyer. This summer, Hartmann will be conducting a virtual internship from her home in Hoboken, NJ, with a local Ecuadorian organization, Medical Plus. Hartmann received this opportunity through the company Kaya Responsible Travel who matched her with Medical Plus based on her passions. Medical Plus is a community medical center located in Quito, Ecuador, founded in 2020 to respond to the community's lack of public medical care and promote integral health, both physical and mental health. Hartmann will be working directly with Medical Plus to assist those who recently immigrated to Ecuador, focusing on recently immigrated single mothers. With Medical Plus, Hartmann will assist in providing these women training in different areas through personalized workshops covering topics from legal rights to nutrition.
