About

William Pater '26 is from Tolland, Connecticut, studying Biological Sciences with minors in Poverty Studies and Theology. Pater is passionate about bridging medicine, poverty alleviation, and structural marginalization, a commitment reflected in his clinical and research work. He has volunteered at the Sister Maura Brannick Health Center in South Bend, interned with the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program, served as an ISC Summer Service-Learning Fellow in Kolkata, and carried out independent field research in Mumbai on barriers to nutrition access for children with intellectual disabilities.

As a Kellogg Developing Researcher and with the Notre Dame Poverty Initiative, Pater is mapping the WASH and poverty ecosystem in Blantyre, Malawi to inform multisectoral intervention planning.

Beyond academics, Pater is Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Scientia Undergraduate Research Journal, a member of the Band of the Fighting Irish, and an active volunteer with Campus Ministry through the Basilica and Our Lady of the Road.
