About

William Pater is a junior majoring in biological sciences with minors in theology and poverty studies originally from Tolland, Connecticut. He has pursued his interests in healthcare, global development, and policy through a 2024 Center for Social Concerns Summer Fellowship, serving as a volunteer and conducting research in Kolkata, India this past summer. As a Nanovic EURO Fellow, he conducts mentored research on the intersection between refugee displacement, poverty, and healthcare access amidst the Russo-Ukrainian War. William also conducts research on the biological mechanisms of metastatic tumor immunity in the Lu Laboratory in the College of Science. He plans to pursue medicine after graduation with a research component in policy.
