Tomás Lucero is a sophomore at the University of Notre Dame pursuing majors in finance and economics with a minor in the Business Honors Program. His research interests include macroeconomics with a focus on monetary and fiscal policy. Last summer, he interned at Banco Falabella, in his home country, Chile, where he gained insights into the Chilean and international financial markets, particularly in instruments and currency trading. In 2022, Lucero founded his high school’s debate team, competing in tournaments hosted by the University of Chile and Andrés Bello University. That same year, he represented his high school at the Harvard-Model United Nations in Panama. Additionally, he served two years as an executive member of Juntos por Chile, a non-profit organization that fosters youth political and civic engagement. As a Developing Researcher, Lucero plans to delve deeper into economics to explore policy solutions that extend a hand to low-income households. By applying the holistic and well-rounded vision he continues to acquire through the Business Honors Program, he is committed to using research to fight poverty. While gaining hands-on experience, he seeks to prepare for graduate school following his remaining years at Notre Dame.
