Stewart Buzdon, a double major in finance and history, is taking part in a virtual internship with Startupbootcamp AfriTech Accelerator in Cape Town, South Africa. Buzdon’s project involves working with a team to seek opportunities to sell off the equity in the startups that Startupbootcamp owns. Buzdon also works to explore the possibility of the AfriTech branch setting up a small venture capital firm to take over the equity positions and extend the longevity of the investments to help bring the startups to later stages before exiting. Buzdon is interested in this work as a result of his aspirations to work in emerging markets, helping startups achieve high levels of growth in areas where capital is limited.
