Sofia Buck is a first-year global affairs major from Detroit, Michigan, with a particular interest in the intersection of freedom, democracy, and law within societies, and how policy decisions impact human and civil rights. She is especially interested in the United States, Eastern Europe, and Francophone Africa. In the summer of 2025, Sofia plans to travel to Europe as part of the Serving (in) Europe cohort, where she will participate in a service internship. On campus, she serves as an office assistant at the Nanovic Institute for European Studies and is involved with NDVotes and the Notre Dame Matriculate chapter. As a participant in the Kellogg Developing Researchers Program, Sofia aims to enhance her research skills and gain a deeper understanding of the methodologies that drive advancements in global affairs.
