Tom Ginsburg is the Leo Spitz Professor of International Law, Ludwig and Hilde Wolf Research Scholar, and professor of political science at the University of Chicago Law School, where he also serves as deputy dean.

In his research, he focuses on comparative and international law from an interdisciplinary perspective. His award-winning books include Judicial Review in New Democracies (2003), The Endurance of National Constitutions (2009), Constitutions in Authoritarian Regimes (2013), and Law and Development in Middle-Income Countries (2014), all from Cambridge University Press. 

He currently codirects the Comparative Constitutions Project, an effort funded by the National Science Foundation to gather and analyze the constitutions of all independent nation-states since 1789. Before entering academia, he served as a legal adviser at the Iran-US Claims Tribunal in The Hague, and he continues to work with international development agencies and foreign governments on legal and constitutional reform. 
Ginsburg holds a JD and a PhD from the University of California at Berkeley.
