Peter Kirchschläger is a senior research fellow in the Faculty of Theology at the University of Lucerne, Switzerland. With research interests that include human rights, business and economic ethics, social entrepreneurship, development, and global politics, he is an expert on the theological and philosophical justifications for human rights.

In addition to cofounding and codirecting the International Human Rights Forum Lucerne and the Centre for Human Rights Education at Pedagogical University Lucerne, he has held academic positions at universities in Europe and the United States, including most recently a visiting fellowship in ethics at Yale University.

He is the author of four monographs and dozens of articles in journals and edited volumes and has consulted on human rights and ethics for national and international organizations such as the United Nations, UNESCO, the European Union, and Amnesty International. He holds a doctorate in theology from the University of Zurich and a second doctorate in theological ethics from the University of Fribourg.
