Adrienne LeBas, assistant professor of government at American University, studies social movements, political parties, and democratization with a regional focus on Africa. Her current book project examines the causes of persistent electoral violence in some new democracies. The author of the award-winning From Protest to Parties: Party-Building and Democratization in Africa (Oxford University Press, 2011), she holds a PhD from Columbia University.
