Paola Bautista de Alemán, a Venezuelan journalist and political activist, is director of the Institute of Political Studies FORMA and president of the Juan Germán Roscio Foundation, offering political education to members of the Primero Justicia opposition party.
In her work with FORMA, she has been instrumental in creating democratic awareness in Venezuela by publishing a political journal and conducting workshops on human rights and democracy throughout the country. At the Juan Germán Roscio Foundation, she focuses on political education and workshops to strengthen democratic values within the organization.
Bautista de Alemán also has been a professor and a published author.. She has authored several books that explore authoritarianism and democracy in the modern age, particularly in the context of Venezuela. She has had papers published in journals such as Journal of Democracy and is recipient of a Fernando Coronil Prize honorable mention .
At Kellogg, Bautista de Alemán will be a Hewlett Visiting Fellow for Public Policy, working on the project, “Political Resilience: Democracy, Backsliding Democracies, and New Authoritarianisms.”
She holds a PhD in political science from Rostock University.
