About

Teresa Majkut is a junior at the University of Notre Dame, majoring in Neuroscience and Behavior with a minor in Business Economics. She is passionate about addressing health disparities in marginalized communities and is particularly interested in research that examines shortcomings in both U.S. and global health care systems, as well as policies designed to promote health equity. During the summers of 2023 and 2024, Teresa worked for a school serving children with special needs, supporting students with advanced autism, OCD, ADHD, emotional disturbances, behavioral issues, and physical disabilities. She also interned at a women’s shelter in the local South Bend community, helping to provide food security and assistive resources to low-income and homeless women and children. Currently, she is part of a research team focused on identifying proximal risk factors for non-suicidal self-injury in youths. Through this program, she hopes to leverage her experience working with vulnerable populations to contribute to meaningful research that explores interventions and policies aimed at reducing health disparities.
