Sakura Yamanaka is a sophomore pursuing a double major in Applied Computational Mathematics & Statistics and Political Science with a minor in Computing and Digital Technologies. She is originally from New York City where she had the opportunity to intern with the Manhattan District Attorney's Office and the NYC Mayor's Office. These experiences sparked her research interests in democracy, technology, conflict, and human rights. In addition to this program, Sakura is a part of the Hesburgh-Yusko Scholars Program, serves as the Director of Community Outreach for Notre Dame Student Government, and is the Vice President of the Notre Dame Figure Skating Team. She is excited to be a member of this program and cultivate her research skills as she plans to attend law school.
