How to (Un)Build a Democracy: The Mexican Case

Democracy worldwide and specially in Latin America is under attack, more and more countries are suffering threats from totalitarianism and polarization, therefore the course and research proposal intends to alert students that democracy is one of the most important citizen’s victories
that is not given but must be protected, promoted, guaranteed, and encouraged by all means. The main objective of the course is to analyze how an electoral democracy is built and how easy is to unbuild it. For that we are going to analyze the Mexican experience, and the threats that democracy is undergoing worldwide. The research part will focused on the American Electoral Justice system.
