Felipe Lyon Errázuriz is a Chilean attorney and professor specializing in Constitutional Law and Legal Theory. He holds a Law Degree (LL.B.) from Pontificia Universidad Católica (2017), a Master's Degree in Political Studies (Universidad de los Andes, 2020), and an LL.M. in International Human Rights (Notre Dame Law School, 2024). Felipe has taught Constitutional Law, Legal Theory, and Human Rights at Universidad San Sebastián (Chile) since 2021. Between 2021 and 2023 he served as a legal counsel in two different constitutional processes, being deeply involved in drafting a new Chilean Constitution. In the second process, he was the Expert Commissioner Carlos Frontaura Rivera’s legal advisor in the Commission of Constitutional Principles, Civil and Political Rights. He also served as Director of the Constitutional Studies Program at Fundación Jaime Guzman, a Chilean think tank, and as a legal advisor in the National Congress.
Felipe’s work and research have been focused on constitutional issues such as the government system, constitutional rights interpretation, education and environmental regulations, and Constitutional Courts. His JSD dissertation will address the nature of human duties, their ability to protect human dignity, and the functions they fulfill when enshrined at the constitutional and international levels, under Prof. Paolo Carozza’s supervision.
