Mitchell Boice is a PhD student in economics from Cleveland, Ohio. His research focuses on topics such as international trade, global value chains, structural change, and development. More specifically, Mitchell's projects pertaining to Kellogg's core values explore the role of trade in fostering or inhibiting structural change in developing countries and explaining intra-African trade dynamics. He is also interested in exploring how the stages of development have evolved over time. In particular, he is interested in how interactions with international supply chains affect the set of development opportunities in the present day.
Prior to attending Notre Dame, he received a B.S. and M.A. in economics from Miami University. He also studied economic integration and banking at Maastricht University in The Netherlands during his undergraduate education. Outside of economics, his interests lie in oceanography and astronomy.
