About

Lauren Cottrell is a junior Political Science major and Theatre minor at the University of Notre Dame. She currently serves as Content Editor for Beyond Politics, Notre Dame’s undergraduate political science journal, and as Vice President of the Notre Dame Circle K International Club. Recently, Lauren returned from studying abroad in London as a Kennedy Scholar, where she presented her research to academics at Durham University on the political mobilization of the Native American Church, with a comparative analysis of other indigenous communities, including Aboriginal Australians and the Inuit People of Canada.

Her primary research interests lie at the intersection of indigenous politics, policy, and faith. She is additionally interested in the nuanced relationship between religious freedom and national economic prosperity, as measured by GDP per capita, as well as the profound impact of the media in shaping public opinion. She is excited to cultivate her abilities and understanding of effective research methodology as a Developing Researcher.
