Vincent (Vinnie) Badali is a senior from Crown Point, Indiana, double-majoring in economics and philosophy with a concentration in philosophy, science, and mathematics. Badali also minors in Chinese. Badali works with Dr. Eva Dziadula, a professor in the economics department, on her research regarding immigration and health economics. Over the years, Badali assisted Dr. Eva Dziadula on her work regarding the effects of NACARA, an immigration policy enacted in the late 1990s, on the marriage market. Badali also assisted with work regarding the LLF fertility policy in China and how that affected intergenerational relationships, particularly the relationship between those affected by the policy and their parents. Currently, Badali is assisting in researching the effects of cross-border marriages on trade. In addition to work done as an International Scholar, Badali is writing a senior honors thesis in the economics department, with Dr. Heitor Pellegrina as his adviser, that seeks to examine the health and labor effects of parental migration from rural to urban areas on elderly caregivers and left-behind children in China.

Badali is an active member of Notre Dame Student Government, having been a senator for Siegfried Hall during the 2023-2024 school year, and is currently serving as Director of Gender Relations: LGBTQ+ Advocacy for Notre Dame Student Government’s Executive Cabinet. Other positions on campus have included being a teaching assistant for Principles of Macroeconomics as well as being a Tocqueville Fellow in the Center for Citizenship and Constitutional Government.
