David Lagakos is an associate professor of economics at the University of California, San Diego who studies macroeconomics and development economics. He is also a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and a lead academic for the International Growth Centre’s Ghana program. His work has examined productivity, particularly relating to agriculture and developing economies, and human capital.
He is co-editor of the Journal of Development Economics, an associate editor of the Review of Economic Dynamics, and has published articles in a number of academic journals. He previously held positions at Arizona State University and the Federal Reserve Banks of Minneapolis and New York.
He earned a BA from the University of Rochester, and an MA and PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles.
