"God Lives in the City: The Argentine Theology of Pope Francis"
When he visited Madison Square Garden in New York City during his recent US tour, the Pope spoke about the light of wisdom and the presence of social communion that God has offered to those suffering in the midst of urban loneliness, blight, poverty, pollution, and discord. This theme echoes his own vision from the 2007 CELAM conference in Aparecida as well as his pronouncements on theology and pastoral life when he was in Buenos Aires. The Pope has called for a new synthesis of pastoral reflection and systematic theology that takes into account the uniqueness of urban spaces and urban planning.
