Juliana Martínez Franzoni (2010–11), associate professor at the University of Costa Rica, presented her recent research on changes in gender relations brought about by conditional cash transfers and other health intervention programs at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in October 2012, highlighting case studies from Chile, Costa Rica, and El Salvador. Her talk was part of a dialogue on “Gender Equity, Health, and Cultural Tensions in the Amazon” sponsored by the Center’s Environmental Change and Security Program, in collaboration with the Brazil Institute.
