Former Visting Fellow Mala Htun (political science) co-authored an article alongside Francesca R. Jensenius for the Monkey Cage analysis titled: "The News Media’s Reporting on a Pandemic Spike in Violence Against Women. It Might Actually Be Declining." They explain the role that gender inequality plays and how intimate partner violence is dropping each year. They state that "violence against women grows from a larger cultural context, not just temporary circumstances like the covid-19 pandemic."
