Irene Rizzini (Fall ’06), professor and director of the International Center for Research and Policy on Childhood (CIESPI) at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, published “The Promise of Citizenship for Brazilian Children: What Has Changed?” in the Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science 633, 1 (2011), a special report on the “Child as Citizen.” The issue grows out of a 2009 AAAS workshop commemorating the 20th anniversary of the International Convention on the Rights of the Child.
