We have gotten off to a great start with the longitudinal study of the women’s microfinance initiative. We had initially planned on having 6 women interviewed per week and so far this week we have had 26. This weekend we were able to go into Mbale, and we hiked the local mountain, which has a waterfall at the top that we went swimming above. I have also been working on a microfinance book for children with terms and a storyline for the local primary school and the more in depth testimonials of the women involved in the beginning of the loan program to track the change that it has had on their lives. Tomorrow we are interviewing a local government official who started her business 5 years ago on a loan and has since become so respected in the community that she was put up for election and won a spot in the local government.
